I can only speak from my experience with my 99 xj but I got 18 mpg around town and 25 mpg on a trip running 215 75 15, 4.0 ax15 w/355 gear. Now I have 31's same gear and a 4.5 RE superflex which took me to 14.5 mpg city and 20I Hwy. hope this helps. HU
