    Anyone alive here

I still check in now and then, password resets on here were a bit painful but sorted now. F__K Facebk!!! My 1990 is still chugging, trying to get a good alternator (1990 XJ - Limited Renix) and though I did apply the Kelley's WIP cables and fuse etc. still have some minor electrics issues...

    Door shim, install questions/help!

Do you have any hints or recommendations on "bending" the door frame? I have a 1990 XJ (4 door) that seems to have just a bit of gap at upper rear portion of passenger door. Enough so that door to weatherstrip seal is not perfect...allows water past seal if sprayed with hose...not good. I...

    questions about running rich

Great info. ref additional write ups... I know that search is your friend but i have a heck of a time sometimes just picking the right search terms then pouring through the results. If you know of a thread and would consider adding the link to your post that would be great. Not asking you to...

    xj whistle when accelerating

Had this issue on my 90 XJ...thought it was vacuum (CCV) but, it was not. Turned out to be the idle pulley bearing going bad. Lossened the serp belt, and replaced the idle pulley. Old pulley bearing had the slightest feel of racheting in it. Napa sells the pulley and bearing as complete...

    Skidplate and Hitch

anyone had luck getting the rear bumper off without removing the hitch? Couple of years ago, after two hitch bolt heads broke when I was trying to remove the hitch for repainting, I had them weld the hitch to the portions of the bolts that remained. Now I want to remove the rear bumper and...

A/C compressor clutch assembly bearing replacement

Great photos and description of the problem. Wondering how the solution will work and what it looks like. If the "staked" bearing is removed by grinding the dimples off, when the new bearing is drifted in, how does it get held in place? Couple of whacks with a punch to restake it? So, can a...

96 MC/booster swapped into a 90 XJ and now no brake lights?

Did the swap yesterday into my 1990 XJ. The donor MC and booster came from a 1995 XJ. The brake light switch and rod modification on the booster was pretty easy based on helpful input from Jon et al. Bored the hole to right diameter ~5/8" and once the plastic bushing fit in neatly as in the...

96 MC/booster swapped into a 90 XJ and now no brake lights?

Appreciate your update! What was your technique for boring the hole on the '96 rod? (Step drill or normal drill bit...what diameter did you shoot for?) I have dug through some wiring diagrams and in the 1988 MJ diagram I found the upper two wire switch is also associated with the cruise...

96 MC/booster swapped into a 90 XJ and now no brake lights?

I did look at the pair of connectors attached to the lower switch. On my XJ both of the brown plastic connectors come straight back toward the driver's shins.

96 MC/booster swapped into a 90 XJ and now no brake lights?

There are actually two switches on the 1990 XJ brake pedal. The upper is a plastic plunger with two wires...the other is a switch mounted to the same bolt which connects the booster rod with the brake pedal. This lower switch has a two connectors (four wires) coming from it which activate the...

96 MC/booster swapped into a 90 XJ and now no brake lights?

xjtrailrider! I am about to undertake same mod. I have a 1990 XJ. Yesterday I picked up a complete 1995 XJ dual diaphram booster/MC/Pro valve lines etc... I have looked at that switch on my 90 XJ over and over and have researched this mod on NAXJA and other sites to n-th degree but cannot find...
