    Renix tps voltage source

Problem resolved, it was the Coolant temp sensor. I had installed a new one about a couple months back and apparently it was no good. Got another one and tested it plugged in and sitting in a glass of ice water and the thing fired right up. Thanks for all the input.

That's a good call. I have a store close by, I'll grab one just to have it.

    Renix tps voltage source

I've load tested my battery and its got plenty of CCA's. Charging system is working properly. I've tried to start with the throttle slightly open before and it doesn't make a difference. I checked the cps per cruisers test and the ohm test and its also fine. I don't think water is an issue, I...

Yes, the grounds was the very first thing I did.

    Renix tps voltage source

Thanks mud, I've put the wire back to the way it's pictured. Cruiser, that's probably a good idea. I've got to be honest, the tps did have voltage, I just wasn't getting the probes far enough in the back of the connector to do the testing. I've since set it up to spec. However...the hard...

    Renix tps voltage source

Ok, thanks 8Mud, I'll check those spots. Does anyone know which color wires correspond with the A, B and C on the TPS connector. This is how its set up right now, looks as if the connector was changed at some point. A - Yellow/green B - Black C - Blue Again, I have a manual transmission.

    Renix tps voltage source

Ok, I found a wiring diagram and the input source does come from the ecu, pin C7. I've check for voltage at C7 with key on and have .84 volts there. Obviously not enough. Does this mean its time to order a new ECU?? Seems like one thing after another...

    Renix tps voltage source

88 Renix, started experiencing hard starting when dead cold. Starts right up when its warm. I've done most of Cruisers tips already, ground refreshing, C101 connector elimination, etc, etc. I've got fuel pressure and spark. I replaced the TPS a while ago and adjusted it to spec. I started...

88 renix motor not starting when hot

SOLVED!!! I finally got it... Turns out that new TPS that I bought from O'rielly's was malfunctioning when it got hot. I don't know why I didn't check it after the problem started, I guess I figured that it was new so how could it be bad. I guess that goes to show the quality of parts from...

88 renix motor not starting when hot

That's kind of what I thought. I'll verify fuel pressure and go down the list from cruiser

88 renix motor not starting when hot

87manche, thanks for the tips. I still find it very odd that this problem only started happening right after I changed the TPS. We've had the Jeep for a couple years now and while it always ran a little rough it would still start every time...I guess its the curse of an older vehicle, fix one...

88 renix motor not starting when hot

I do have spark when it's cranking. I think I'll probably replace the crank sensor just to rule it out and since they're a common problem. I also tested my coolant temp sensor and got .750 ohms resistance which isn't even close to what it should be. Probably going to change that too...

88 renix motor not starting when hot

Ok, installed a new distributor. When cold, it started way faster and runs a whole lot better. However.... After it is hot an I shut it off for 5 minutes, it only cranks and won't fire. Same problem as before. I retested the crank possition sensor after it was hot and got 269 ohms. Seems pretty...

88 renix motor not starting when hot

Correction: I only have about 2 volts tested at the distributor connector. I was able to borrow an analog style volt meter to check the stator and I have zero fluctuation of the needle meaning I'm getting no sync pulse. Looks like i'll be installing a new CMP sensor this weekend. Hoping to get...
