Wow, freakin weird, just did the same project last night & ran into this also, Jeep karma :banghead:

89 XJ, 4.0, auto trans, 178,000. All coolant was lost down the highway, due to stupid plastic cap on expansion tank, didn't notice temp gauge was pegged into the red until it was too late. Engine shut off like someone turned off the key, pulled to side of road to let it cool. Towed home next...
