it's kind of far from you, but after three years of searching high and low i've been really satisfied with a kiwi named Damian who owns "Damian Smith Auto Repair" shop in the valley. he works on all cars but specializes in Jeeps... he drives a black XJ and a yellow one that's basically two XJs...

dunno if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but i was in Wal-Mart and picked this up from the magazine section. this is different than the Hi-Po Jeep XJ Builder's Guide (which i also own! haha.), and includes sections on JeepSpeed and a 6oo+ HP stroker inline-6.

ahh, wow, that actually looks really good. it's a little more modern-looking than the '97+ and my '96, but still has the XJ look and feel! i'm planning on building a Class 17oo rig and i doubt modifying the entire front-end is race legal, but i'd love to make this mod on the 37oo i'll be racing...
