All the ones I have had have the screw on the drum.

I don't use the attaching bolt. There is a way to tie the rope to the drum. https://www.safe-xtract.com/tutorials/attaching-synthetic-winch-line-to-winch-drum/ I've done Ghost this way we did the MJ that way I believe and my son just did his TJ with this method.

Went to Hickory, NC last Saturday for some walnut. Milled a slab on site and brought the rest home.

Best guess is the splines don't go far enough in. But that is uncharted territory for me. You might could check that by measuring the tow past the rear of the case maybe?

To mod the 95 you would have to change the output shaft which requires you to tear the transmission all the way down. OS come out the front. I didn't see that mentioned. My experience is with 94's.
