My check engine light has been on for a while, due to misfires is my guess... Borrowed a friends OBDII scanner and it tells me that there are no codes? It also says the MIL status is OFF. huh? Should I assume the scanner is messed up, as it's pretty clear the MIL is on! This is a 2001 XJ 4.0L

I'm looking for an instrument cluster with gauges - I need the temp gauge... Stupid move that I broke off the needle adding glow gauges. Duh. My vehicle is a 95 XJ, i don't really need the whole cluster. Thought maybe someone had a partial cluster? If anyone has a cluster with the temp gauge...

Ok, it turns out that my system is now running well enough that it never got hot enought to turn on the aux fan - EXCELLENT! I towed my boat for a test ride to see if the engine got hot, and it stayed rock solid at about 212 degrees, so we went to the launch... Parked the XJ idling while...

Ok, now that my cooling issues are solved, I've successfully towed my 2000lb boat with no problem! I did notice, however, that with the trailer connected and the added tongue weight (only 100lbs) the rear sags. And I'll be loading the back of the XJ with more weight than that at some point...

Yes, they are connected by a diode block which creates an "OR" condition - fan should come on if the A/C is on - OR - if the temp switch signals it needs to... either condition will power to the relay. Where is that confounded diode block????

Anyone have a detailed wiring diagram for the cooling circuit on a 1995 XJ 4.0l? I need it to debug the aux fan circuit... I have a haynes manual - not specific enough. Ideally I need the pinout for the relay. THANKS!!!!!!!

There might be something to the trapped air idea... I drained the system to replace the heater core, so there could still be some air. That may be the best advantage of the OEM thermostat, the small vent... I'll replace the thermo tomorrow and we'll see. I have a new serpentine belt, but I...
