Got my 94 XJ back from my brother after he got hit in the rear. Could be fixed very easily but it got totaled by his insurance and he dumped it back in my driveway. would like to get rid of whole truck instead of parting out. It's got almost 200k on the clock but I put a motor from a 99' into it...

    4.0 Rod Bearings

Are they the new ones? - I'll attempt to post the tech bulliten they sent me later. Basically as of 9/17/2003 their bearings no longer have the oiling hole. I found out last night I got 2 sets mfg. before that date and they have the hole, the newer sets don't. Erich

    Pulling pan

Pan Gets hung up on oil pump feed - just went through this - I remove oil pump feed tube and twisted panup in the front and kind of sideways, came right out with just jacking up the front of the truck and letting the frt. axle droop. Erich

    4.0 Rod Bearings

4.0 rod have a cut out on the camshaft side to squirt oil out of. I got an e-mail from Clevite though. Said they eliminated the squirt hole because there is enough oil spray from the crank to lubricate everything (according to their engineers). There are a number of bearings they did this with...

    4.0 Rod Bearings

Hey all. Basically got some new rod bearings, Clevite-77, and went to install them, due to the bearings in my 99' junk yard motor got eaten up, and found that my stock bearings have a small half moon cut-out in the center of the bearing opposite the locking tab at the edge. Clevite-77 bearings I...

    R12 to R134a Retrofit Question.

94' is the split year - early =R-12, late = R-134A. To convert if it's the R-12 just evacuate the R-12 at any shop and ask them to pull a vacuum, then use your kit to put on the adapters and refill. When R-134a is mixed with R-12 oil it causes the oil to become very acidic and rot your system...

    '99 4.0 replacing tired 93 4.0

I just did this - my 99 engine had the newer intake which yours should - use it if you can. I'm getting over 22 mpg consistantly out of it. you need to use the newer p/s pump with it - brackets and pulley were very cheap from the dealer - i used a used pump - but a new one was about 50 bucks...

    Engine Swap

Hey all, It's been a while. Got another XJ - 94' with bad motor. Question is this, has anyone had any issues with puting a 99' or 2000 4.0L motor in an earlier vehicle. Junkyards are telling me there are issues - can't see how. If it doesn't have a distributor (cam pos. sensor instead with coil...

No I haven't - it's still in stock form. I was originally going to use a Rockkrawler long arm kit which would simplify installation. Erich

    88 XJ Laredo For Sale

I got this rig about a year ago and used it through last winter and over the summer. Just recently got a really nice 89 XJ wagoneer limited. Wife won't let me keep both - also don't have the money to put into both. It's got 5spd tranny, P/W, P/mirrors, P/Locks, new heater core, newer...

Dana 44 Grand Waggy frt. axle

It's hub to hub with brakes, tie rods and everything in between. I was going to use it in the frt. of my 89 XJ then decided to stick with the D30. It's a pretty heavy duty axle - larger than normal tubes. I've got it advertised elswhere for $200.00 but would be willing to take a little less. I...
