Another thing to consider is not to sipe the entire tread. Only sipe the inside treads leaving the outside lugs alone. This will help with the tires from chunking out when driving off road.
3/4" EMT, and yes it took me over 2 years to finish. Worked on them here and there but spent the time in between working on the bumpers and the sliders.
I do not plan on bracing them. It made the front fender pretty stout without bracing. I reused the factory brace but had to bend it to make it fit. I used conduit because it was cheap. Yes it is weak, but I would rather the flare fold if I hit something hard than it take out the quarter...
