I get Code 45 and loose OD Lockup

I have had the same symptoms as the OP for about a year and I'd really like to hear if anyone has a solution. There are many threads on the same topic but few fixes reported. I've long thought it was a trans solenoid that fails when the trans warms up. The problem and CEL goes away in...

D30 innner seals, DIY or pay a mechanic?

I've done this before and I will never do it again without a hoist. That said, the 'special' tools and skills you need are minimal: a large socket for the axle nut and something to set the seals (see homebrew devices on web). Basically take it all apart, including the ring + carrier, pop...

Need HELP w/AW4 spinning out of overdrive

Same deal w/ my TPS. It would test fine, w/ analog meter. I replaced it after a year of scratching my head and it's all good now.

    '99 Hatch Rattle

ditto. there are two bolts under/behind the bumper. Adjusting the striker is pretty delicate. There is a fine line between no rattles and a hard-to-open door.

    AW4 Code 45 shifting a bit off (97)

UPDATE: A new tps solved the problem and eliminated ALL the funny shifting. Jeep now shifts and idles like it should. THE JEEP NO LONGER INDICATES ERROR CODE 45. A GOOD METER READING DOES NOT = GOOD SENSOR: I checked my old TPS with an analog meter and there was a smooth + linear voltage...

    AW4 Code 45 shifting a bit off (97)

Hello, I'm resurrecting an old thread of mine. Does anyone know if there is a relationship between the cruise control system and the tps? If not, is does the cruise system only informed by the vacuum? I probably need a new tps, based on my symptoms. But I'm not sure b/c the tps voltage...

    Fixing up the daily driver

re: the tailgate you can adjust the catch for the tailgate. if you reach under and a bit around the rear bumper you'll feel two bolts that mount the catch. With a socket extension you can loosen the bolts and move the catch in or out... whichever way pulls the tailgate in tighter. It's a...

    Transmission doing crazy things!

Have you had any luck with this? Mine does the same thing. Works better when the engine is cold, then it's dodgey at running temp and sometimes throws a CEL #45 code. it is a 97.

    CEL Code 45...what is this?

In my case it indicated a transmission fault. Two of them. I had 45X2. I got rid of one of them: was the NSS. I can't figure out what the other fault is, but it's transmission related.

Front grille cover for cold weather ...

I had one on the last Jeep. It was $30 at CDN Tire for a winter vinyl cover and a summer bug mesh. It came with about a dozen button snaps to attach it to the grill. I check the CDN Tire website and couldn't find them... but I'm sure a store would ship you one if you called...

    AW4 Code 45 shifting a bit off (97)

After some rough weather, I was able to get working on this again. I pulled the codes from the computer. p0700 & p0705 Code p0705 is the NSS. I took that apart, cleaned it, one code is gone. Sadly, check engine light is not gone. The P0700 code is still there. That is a generic...

Can a bad NSS cause a shifting problem?

I'm gettin some funny business with my AW4 too. A few weeks back I posted w/ similar problems. I was advised to check some points on the NSS connection. I haven't done this yet. But here is the link to the thread: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=102569
