    Problem With Axles

Cool, thanks for the help. Just didn't know where to find the info.

    Problem With Axles

I have a 2001 XJ Sport 4.0L 4x4 with automatic trans. I bought the Jeep 3 weeks ago, and when crawling under it to take a closer look at my diffs, I was scared. The front end has a Dana 30 with 3.55 gears, which I had expected. But the rear end was bugging me. It's a Dana 35 (which is fine...

would you use this oil in your jeep?

Bridgestone Firestone Retail actually uses this oil for an option at their stores in the Seattle, Washington area. I read about it in one of our companies newsletters (I work for BFRC), and as the article was explaining, the oil is just as good a new oil. It has all been re-refined, and the...

Valve Cover Leak Due to Head?

Well, just a little update. I gave up searching for aluminum valve cover's for my '88. Seems that the designed changed in '91, and everything before then seems to be plastic. Wranglers, Cherokees, and Comanchee's alike. But I do have my new valve cover on and it has fixed my leaks. I'm now...

    Heater switch out again

I agree with replacing the blower motor. But if the switch is completely burnt up like my old Jeep's was, pick up a new switch as well.

Valve Cover Leak Due to Head?

Will an Aluminum Wrangler Valve Cover fit my Cherokee 2.5L?

Valve Cover Leak Due to Head?

It had a rubber gasket in it, covered with RTV, before I tried to fix the leak I had then. So I bought a Felpro rubber gasket, and it appeared to be about an 1/8 inch too long, and nothing would line up right. So I decided to put back the org. gasket, I noticed the pitting in the head (I've been...

Valve Cover Leak Due to Head?

I spent the last two nights replacing my valve cover gasket (a few times), and it continues to leak. One thinig I noticed that seemed very odd to me is that the lip where the gasket is suposed to seal on the head has not been machined smooth and you can see a lot of pits from casting. Has anyone...

    2.5 Rebuild

Another question I just though of. Is it possible to switch from TBI to Carb? Any advice on this?

    2.5 Rebuild

Thanks for the info tgoff. Although I love doing engine swaps, my Jeep is a DD, so I can't afford to have it down for too long. I have two MG B's that I am currently putting together, and once I get one of them running, the Jeep will get it's overhaul. Although I loved the 4.0 in my XJ Sport...

    2.5 Rebuild

North of Tampa, south of Horse Hole Creek. Kinda halfway between both. There is a U-Pull about 45 mins away, which I've found tons of stuff for my Might Max there. Never noticed how many Jeeps were there. Did find tons of Dodge vans and chevy cars though.

    2.5 Rebuild

I probably should have added some of that info, lol. I have an 88 Cherokee, AX5 trans, NP231 T-Case. Dana 35 rear, Dana 30 front. 4.11:1 gears. 3" Lift with 31" tires. The only reason I want more power for is because the Jeep seems to take off too slow, and seems like it doesn't like to go...

    2.5 Rebuild

Well, with the rear main, distributer, & valve covers leaking oil, and the massive blow by due to the piston rings, I am starting to plan out my rebuild. It won't be my first engine rebuild (2.8L on 84 S10, 2.8L on 85 Ranger, & 2.4L on 92 Mighty Max), but I am seriously begging for more power...

    '89 guage swap ?

I have an '89 with the idiot light dash. After driving my last XJ Sport, I miss the full guage cluster. I was considering aftermarket guages (had a voltmeter guage sitting around), but was wanting something a little easier than running wiring for three or four guages. My question is will I...

    Dies When Headlights Turned On

Well, the alt tested good (even though it's the 74 amp alt instead of the 105 amp alt I should have for AC). And retested the battery, it passed, but marginally, so I charged it a little more and retested it. Again, passed marginally. Reinstalled the alt and battery, and the Jeep started fine...
