Yes, but IMHO, removing the carrier makes it easier, do it in a warm shop standing up, keeping an eye on the small parts.

Brings back memories... I bought my first Wagoneer 30 years ago from a guy in Burlington who given the same warning. He was at the point of getting a ticket every week. get it to a storage yard quick.

Get a good electrician to check it out before buying parts. You may just need to clean up all the connections, control and power.
