I'm thinking about finding some castoff from the 70's van craze who still does louvers...not three billion all over the hood just a small section of louvered metal.

Sounds good and even i thought of that...the mechanic actually took my xj to a friend who is a master tech at Keffer Jeep (dealership)...this is not gonna cost me anything and this should figure it out.
I actually paid 1900 for the rebuild...that price included a new torque converter and all new solenoids(three). They say they are gonna keep working on it till the light goes off and they need to as i cannot pass inspection with the light...the jeeps runs great and shifts awesome.
