i tried to put a seat in a 1988 xj.i had the brackets also. nothing worked the seats were to wide where they mount to the floor. measure the stock seat i think they are 11-12 inches wide make sure the new seat is the same and is for your year .They are different for later models. Dan

just found your reply thanks. did you have to raise the seat or put a spacer under the slider? I tried to use the factory elect pedestal with all kinds of mods but nothing worked then I put the new seat on the floor but the seat was too wide at the base to fit

well I let it set with the batt. disco.for 3 days Hooked it up starts like new. tested voltage on the three wires each showed a 12v draw that fadded to 0 after a few seconds. I think this is going to be in the radio so I will start with those fuses , I'll check back later

If you think it is a good trans. go for it you'll need to get new seals for the trans and the transfer case don't forget the torque converter must be drained and a new seal check with a service manual for number of qts. of fluid. It is a must to know that your new trans. is. a 86 or older cause...
