    Crossroads

Thanks for the feedback guys. I had done a compression test awhile back and had gotten good results, so I had a hard time believing it would be rings. But it burns a hell of a lot of oil. Anyway, I DO have access to compressed air, so perhaps I can try this out.

    Crossroads

Hi. I have posted here a few times, but I'm just so darn busy working for my college that I can never find the time to spend here. However, I am at a point where a decision needs to be made about my 93. I bought it 2 years ago with 130,000 miles on it. I did not know when I bought it that it...

    235's with a 3" lift?

    I say go for 30"s. :-)

    possibly stupid question

timing chain maybe? Could, then, my mild knock problem be related to a worn timing chain? Also, there are a number of vacuum lines that go to the intake manifold, and all of them are under negative pressure. Well, the back one has a fitting (I think that I mentioned this before) with some sort...

    possibly stupid question

This might be somewhat simple a question, but there have been worse. I have a 93 XJ, and I get SOME spark knock (in addition to the other problems that I have thus posted here on this board) when the engine is under load, like in the 2-3 grand range. Does a 93 have a spark knock sensor? Also, I...

    woodgrain R&R

hmm. I have an 85 LTD, and have for 3 years now. Well, I took off my woodgrain, and heat and smoe mild solvents worked. But you are going to find that you'll want to plug those 1/4 inch holes that you have every 16 inches or so. I just welded them shut, and they have worked. So if you have the...

How much engine oil is TOO much??

this is getting long winded I hate to add to the posts on this thread that is already too long for the complexity (or lack thereof) of this issue. However, I will concur with Eagle: Just drain all the oil, making sure it's warm and loose, put the plug and new filter in, fill it with 6 quarts...

    Cooling Issues

flush it MY fan wouldn't go on when it got to 240, and I thought it was my sensor, but a stat change and a GOOD flush and the right mixture to replace it did the job. Thermostats can be defective occasionally, so don't rule it out. Christian

XJ temperature problem - is this typical?

Barely.. I know I'm a little late in giving you useful feedback, but I'll tell you anyways. My 93, open system, overheated quite a bit when I got the Jeep. It would run relatively normally on the highway, ect, but if you were to stop or idle for a bit, it'd shoot up to like 230/240...waaaayy...

The joys of familiarizing oneself with a previously owned Cherokee.

Don't think that's the prob. Good suggestion. However, I am running 10-30, and I highly doubt that I should run 10-40 in that 4.0, unless someone can show me a really good reason to. Anybody? ;-)

    Opinions on used 1989 Laredo

Only as parts...or 4 wheeling My opinion? This Jeep is good for parts, assuming that the running gear is good. Try and get him down to 400, than it'll be worth buying. But if you have a bad engine, body damage, cooling system apart, ect, it's probably going to be a headache.

The joys of familiarizing oneself with a previously owned Cherokee.

That's not good I hope that it isn't my rod bearings, because niether me nor my budget are up to such a problem. But, I've put 15 thousand miles on it so far, and the oil pressure hasn't gotten any worse. I think that I'll drive it and keep an eye on the pressure, and just see what develops...

The joys of familiarizing oneself with a previously owned Cherokee.

Thank you Thank you for the info. I failed to mention that I had already gone the rounds with the PCV system (of sorts) and I had found a clogged breahter valve. I HAD had massive amounts of oil in my air filter, but that has stopped since I replaced the tube. I don't leak anything from the...

The joys of familiarizing oneself with a previously owned Cherokee.

Hey everybody, I am totally new to this board, so Hi. I have 2 XJs, one is an 85 Wagoneer and the other is a 93 Sport. I was practically given the 85 because it was destined for the scrapyard (accident) However, I saved it and have gotten 3 years of dependable highway use, (even though it's a...
