It wasn't .5 mpg with 93 or 3 mpg with 89. They were reading it .5 and 3 less gallons per hour.
I don't know what that equates to mpg wise but here are some links to an article with JP magazine and they got around +1.78mpg with the Fitch system...
I know this is kind of irrelevant since your Jeep is fixed now but if you had no track bar whatsoever your Jeep wouldn't have made it out of the drive way let alone down the freeway.
Are you sure they didn't just replace the TRE on the track bar.
Or maybe they meant your swaybar was missing...
The command trac is the NP231 which is a part time only 4wheel drive transfer case.
You should never put it in 4X4 on the street. when you are in 4x4 there is no way for the transfer case to compensate for the difference in speed when you turn the vehicle on the street, causing the drive train...
I don't know anyone who's had one personally but I checked them out. Same basic design as everyone else. I'm sure it will be fine.
The thing to remember is to keep the drag link and track bar as close to parallel as possible and never use track bar relocation brackets on the axle end.
