that's probably the plan, although the header i linked gets good reviews and is only $50 more. So its a toss up. I do need the complete exhaust from the cat back though my muffler and tailpipe are in need of replacement, so it would be nice to buy a "kit".
Hmm, lots of recomendations for http://www.ineedparts.com/apn-jeep-exhaust-manifold.html on other jeep boards...
Also since i'll have everything apart i'm thinking header wrap to help with underhood temps...
No Banks on this one, its a $1500 XJ with 200k miles on it. Just looking to fix up a couple things on it so I can continue to DD back and forth to work 40 miles a day.
haha, yeah i've been listening to 4.0L exhaust videos most of the day today at work... I had a magnaflow on my last truck and it sound great, low and powerful, no drone on the inside.
yeah 2k rpm is right at highway speed, right where i spend 90% of my time lol, it would drive me nuts. yeah looking for a better than stock quality replacement. I don't care if its louder outside, just trying to avoid the drone inside.
01, 4.0L, auto, all stock, with a cracked exhaust manifold.
I see there are a lot of different brands of replacement exhaust manifolds out there, any in particular that are cheap and good?
Also i'm about due for a new muffler and tailpipe, i see Dynomax is having a rebate on their cat back...
So now with the weather getting cold it has not been stumbling much at all. But i also just replaced the blown fuse for the 02 sensor heaters, check engine light is off now and it has been running fantastic. Not sure if all that was related or not. I guess we'll drive it a bit and see.
I just did replaced the rear line from the prop valve back. At the prop valve there is like a 6" long piece on the prop valve side its a 3/16 inverted flare fitting, on the other end is a metric bubble flare. So for a non abs xj the rear line will have a metric fitting and bubble flare on one...
I've gotten into the habit of making sure to shut my lights off before i shut the jeep off. I don't trust that i'm going to walk away and they will shut off, considering all the stupid issues i'm having with my 99.
so NTK sensors only huh... its been too cold and snowy for me to crawl under and check it out. 4 day weekend coming up though, so should be able to get it in the garage.
I keep looking online and lots of posts about this exact same problem. I don't think its related to the 02 sensors though...
Thanks for the tips... I can't remember what o2 sensors I picked up. I didn't know about the fuse.
I figured it was the check valve in the fuel tank, it always starts but sometimes after sitting it takes a good 5 seconds of cranking. Its not a big deal to me
99 XJ, 4.0, auto, 170k miles...
runs good, starts fine, and it does this more often when the engine is warm or its not really cold out.
start it up, pull out of the driveway or parking space, then seems like soon as you pull out onto the road it wants to die really bad. It sputters and barely...
