langer1 called it. I spent all last night trying to put the bolts into the wrong holes. Geez I'm a freakin idiot. I did manage to finally get the starter changed and I'm good to go. Thanks all!!!
Well I got the starter out. Does anyone have any hints on how to get it back in? I can't get the bottom bolt to thread and the top bolt is just a freakin' PITA.
Thanks. I didn't smell anything burnt now but I do think it was the battery to begin with. I just hope I didn't screw anything up. I cleaned and tightened the battery cables and the wire to what I think is the solenoid. I checked all the grounds and all I get when I turn the key to start is just...
Well after screwing around with the XJ some more I think it's the starter that's needs replacing. I do have a question though. Could the nasty smell I mentioned earlier be a fried relay or something?
Thanks for the reply. I was trying to correct a weak starting battery after a no start from a -10 night in the mountains. I figured some mag-chloride and other road debris might be causing the problem. I charged the battery and still had the weak start problem. I guess now it's a bit worse.
Hey Everyone....I pretty much don't know anything about cars but I figured cleaning the connections for the starter is relatively easy after reading the posts on this forum. Well I attempted to clean the easiest connection to get to which I think is the ground wire. I unhooked the battery...
Hey All...I have an OEM wheel from a Jeep Wrangler I bought on eBay and it doesn't match the wheels I currently have. I have a pic of the wheel but I'm not allowed to post it so I can email it to whoever is interested. I live an Westminster, CO and would prefer to sell it locally to keep costs...
Ok...I think I'm ready to change the radiator but I have a few more questions. I work on computers for a living so the mechanical stuff is kind of foreign. I bought the quick disconnect tools for the transmission lines but I'm concerned about were they connect to the actual radiator. What do I...
Thanks RichP....I haven't messed with the serpentine belt. I'm thinking about trying and changing it but I want to tackle the radiator first. Thanks again, Ryan.
Thanks DenLip...I actually found that damn thing yesterday. Did you have any issues with the Transmission lines? It looks like there is a metal piece crimped to the hose on mine.
Thanks all...I've been reading more threads and I'm a little nervous about the transmission cooler lines. Are there any tips and tricks I should know about? Do I even need to worry about the transmission cooler? Thanks again, Ryan.
Thanks RichP.....looks like I'm going to be in the market for a new radiator. I know it's a lot to ask but can someone give me a step by step on replacing the radiator? I'm a little uncomfortable with how to drain the coolant. Also are there any special tools that I'll need. I have a basic set...
