Do you have the rear wiper switch?

    Need time estimate

OK, estimate on the whole thing--muffler on back just fell off friday on my way to the airport (grrrr) and when i removed it from under the vehicle, it doesn't stand a prayer of being reused--too rusted. It looks to me like it'll be about 2 hours for me to do all of it without the added time of...

    Need time estimate

Hey guys, I know I haven't posted in a while--work's been insane and the jeep hasn't been running too badly. I need an estimate of how long replacing the catalytic converter on my jeep is likely to take, given that I have no experience doing exhaust work and I know that my clamps and flange...

    Fog Lamp Switch

Will a fog lamp switch from a '91 XJ fit an '89 XJ? There appears to have been some wiring change between '90 and '91 based on how people on e-Bay list fog lamps themselves, so I'm not sure if it'll work or not.

    Puzzling Idle (yes--I've searched)

OK, first things first, YES, I have searched the forum and can't find anything that matches this. The specs: '89 Cherokee Laredo, 4.0L, NP231, AW4, stock everything The problem: high idle (1500-2000 rpm out of gear) when warm (500-750 when cold). If I start the jeep when cold and let warm up...

    TPS adjustment proceedure????

As long as you've done one, you've done both--they're just opposite ends of the adjustment (use terminal (C) and 0.165 to 0.175 optimal 0.170 instead of the values given above for the TCU side).

'97+: Does the heater just plain suck in these things?

Dumb question, I know, but have you considered a dead/dying blower fan? Mine died last winter and, OMG, the replacement will roast you alive--significantly more air flow.

    Overheating at idle tried everything!

I didn't see anything that stated that you checked the coolant temp switch for the aux fan in your list. I'm not certain if newer jeeps have those (I have an '89), but if it failed, it would explain some of the cooling problems you're seeing.

    Rear Bumper Bolt Size

Hello again all, I'm back (bought my officially totalled XJ back from my brother). Does anyone know what size (head, threading, and length) the bolts for the rear bumper brackets are? I need all the bolts because a new bumper and brackets are going on, but I can't reuse old ones bolts. Also...

    Heater Fan Problem

Well all, I just wanted to say that I have heat as of last month--the fan had burned up (metal shavings fell out when I took it out). Thanks for the help.

    Fuel Pressure Question

Does anyone know any more details about this phantom BMW check valve? I'd really like to put it in since my fuel pump pumps fine, it just won't hold pressure once it's off.

    Idle Issues

Help! OK, you've been great with advice so far, so here goes another one for you: my '89 XJ 4.0L w/ 240k on it now likes to idle between 1750 and 2000 RPM (unloaded) once it gets warm (after I've driven it--it may climb there if I just let it sit and idle, but I've never had the time to check)...

    Oil Pressure Sender

Yep, 2 posts within minutes of each other. Next question: do I need to buy the oil pressure sender for my jeep from a dealership? My brother says that the one I can get from a local parts shop isn't going to be the right one and I know it doesn't look the same. I'm assuming I need to replace...

    Fuel Pressure Question

Hello all, A couple of months ago I replaced my fuel filter on my '89 Cherokee Laredo. According to procedure, I went to the fuel rail to bleed the pressure. To my surprise, I had no pressure (Jeep had been off for a few hours at this point). My question is: is there a check valve on the...
