As if things couldn’t get worse

I thought that maybe some important information of something that I have found out is that when the engine is cold the alternator seems to be working but as soon as I get up to operating temperature it throws the code 41 and the alternator stops working. I was going to try and run some test with...

As if things couldn’t get worse

Ok guys so I’ve posted a couple different threads here pertaining to my 1991 4.0 jeep xj. My first issue was not getting spark. Found that the problem was a faulty pcm. During the process though I replaced a boat load of part. Starter, alternator, battery, spark plugs and wires, coil...

    New issue. I’m going insane

I think what fried it was a couple things. The other day my battery died while camping and I used the rangers battery charger and started the jeep while the charger was still hooked up to it. Also I found bare wire on a few different places (yes I properly repaired them before installing new...

    New issue. I’m going insane

I am using a pcm specifically for my my 91. Got it from rock auto. The distributor is new, spark plugs new, wires new. I’m getting a good strong spark from the coil and the distributor to the plugs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New issue. I’m going insane

When we were cranking we had 39-42 psi. I’m thinking I might just be flooded. Poured fuel in the TB thinking that maybe I wasn’t getting fuel but looked into the TB and see a puddle sitting in there. So I have a feeling there is too much fuel in there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New issue. I’m going insane

Ok previously on my 1991 jeep xj 4.0 with auto trans I had a no spark issue. I changed the pcm because I found that to be my problem. Now I’m getting good spark and I’m getting fuel but the damn thing still won’t start. I’m driving myself nuts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you for the info. So basically if the pcm from a 95 is good the 91 jeep should run maybe just with minor issues? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Weak spark.

So I found out after testing/replacing and fixing many parts, bare wires, and countless other thing on my jeep that my no spark issue was due to a faulty pcm. Now my problem is the spark that I am getting is a weak spark(Orange, red color). Could this be because of a worn out ground strap at back...

    differences in 91-95 xj

No that all sounds right. I took the pcm out of my dads jeep and put it in mine and my problems were solved minus a weak spark. I have the proper year pcm coming tomorrow for my Jeep I just needed to do a check with his from his 95 to make sure it was the computer causing no spark. Thanks for...
