Stock springs on an XJ are almost flat when unloaded: so when you load her up they will sag.
My 90 XJ is also stock and I like to camp so by the time I am all loaded up with all my gear and 2 gas cans it goes into a negative arc.
My fix was to install air shocks this returned my XJ to a level...
It sounds like a wheel or axle bearing; attempt to isolate the noise front or back.
If it is a bearing the noise will change as you turn the steering wheel.
This is the most probable cause of the your noise.
:patriot:
My XJ won't pass smog because I have a Borla header on it .
This is a 50 state header but the smog shop needs a state number for the header.
Can sumone help me with this?

I have a 1994 YJ that has yet to be lifted.
My plan is to install 30X9.5 –15 tires on stock wheels.
The big Q is will thy fit? If not what is the smallest lift that will allow sufficient clearance, as my biggest problem is I have a bad leg.
PS I also have a 90 XJ:D :D
