Not sure if you have the auto or manual trans, but a common problem with the manual is that the clutch master cylinder leaks fluid onto the fuse block causing all sorts of problems! Next, find your grounds and check to make sure that they are all good!

Not the NSS if it was, it would keep the motor from cranking as that is what the NSS does. It would NOT cause it not to get spark! As others have said, check the Crank Position Sensor, if that doesnt do it, also check the Cam Position Sensor in the distributor!

Well, when your shifting 1st thru 5th, your shifting the transmission, not the transfer case. Dont know jeeps too well myself, just barely got into the 4x4 thing :D But watching the transfer case linkage and having him shift the transmission, you wont see anything!

Well i put the meter on the corresponding pins to the ECU cranked it up, and its showing AC voltage of about .18 or .19 if i remeber correctly, and thats with a brand new CPS ohms out at 224 or right around there, give or take 3!

the donor 2.5 is from a 97 wrangler, ECM's are way different. But i did swap in the ECM from a buddies 89' MJ 2.5 2x4 5speed, and it didnt make a difference!

Yup, sounds like the alternator is taking a crap! Should see if they will cover the battery that you had to purchase, becuase when the alterntor dies, it usually take the battery with it anyway!

id say rod or oil pump! either way thats pretty scary, would suck to put it back together without knowing what it was and have the engine go boom!

As far as i know the 2.5 doesnt use the cam position sensor, there wasnt one there when i did the cap and rotor, and there is no connector for it
