    Piston differences 4.0L

I have a 1998 XJ sport. AW4 - NP 231 chryco 8.25 rear D-35 high pinion front axle. My #3 piston decided it didn't need some of its skirt. Long story short I'm trying to buy a used one. I noticed mine had a D shaped recess in the top. Inside that D shape the area is flat. On top of the used...

Is there an easy way to extend bump stops?

I used rubber mallets from Northern tool. They are about 5". I only needed 3" so I cut them down with a sawzall. Obviously need to cut the wooden handle off too. Gorilla glue holds them down to the lower spring mount.

What is that roar on startup from the intake?

I don't hear it in my 98 when the stock airbox is hooked up. The other day I was starting it up with the airbox disconnected after changing out the water pump. I kept shutting it off to look for some problem with my work. After several times I left it run & listened around with a piece of...

    Spare on roof too heavy?

I have a 98XJ with a 3" lift & 31X10.5 LT15's The spare wouldn't fit the stock location without unlatching the rear seat back. It fit nicely on the cargo floor, but took up too much space. I got it on the roof now sitting on 4 stock roof rails I got from the junkyard, and 4 blue tie-down...

    tcase drop question!

The studs have little shoulders that will not pass through the crossmember holes. You must lower at least one side at a time to remove the studs. Otherwise they will strip in the frame. The fix for that is to drill large 1-1/2" holes in the side of the frame rail to top nut the new bolts...

    P0171 O2 sensor diagnosics - '97 XJ

The info as I got it, was an unmarked 15 amp fuse in the box near the battery. On my 1998 XJ (4.0L auto 4WD) it happened to be in the location I described. It's possible that it's at another location in your box.

    P0171 O2 sensor diagnosics - '97 XJ

I might have what you need. Let me start by saying I had the same thing in my 98XJ. I don't know anything about how it all works, but I saw a post on another forum just two days ago. In the fuse box near the battery, there is a small unmarked 15 amp fuse. On mine, it was in the group of the...
