You shared that it was running is it 100% a starting issue or when it ran it did so like crap and made other engine noises?
If once started it runs fine then that points to items related to the starter circuit.
Not suggesting it is the issue, but when I just changed my starter for slower than...
I am planning to change my injectors to re-manufactured 746 Bosch units.I saw a set on ebay - claim to be matched flow.
Is there someone on this site that rebuilds them or a current reliable source?

Wow...did my brain fart.
Just re-read the instructions. I thought it said when having engine issues adj to 17% for manual transmissions and 83% for manual transmissions. Passed over it to quickly because another thread basically said the same thing.
But what it does say is that its 17% for...
1987 XJ 4.0 Automatic
TPS - ground test = less than 1 ohm
TPS - base voltage 4.88
TPS - max voltage I could get rotating was under 2 volts
Ordered new TPS and I am getting the same results.
Unless I missed something and this is done at WOT, then I could dial it in.

I have so far done 1 through 3 and plan to continue as time permits.
How many revolutions do you think is typical and about how many seconds before it begins to fire?
I am not saying it is hard or slow to start as I have no frame of reference. I shared the crank cycles and amount of time it takes to ask those that have that vintage to chime if it is normal or there is an issue.
