92 XJ Sport - Resto Mod

Very cool. German working lines. Varmint #Last has one of those: But he's just a little dog. Only 85 lbs.

92 XJ Sport - Resto Mod

This thread needs pics of the German Shedders. This was my 100lb German Shedder: He actually made to 110, but that was because his Varmint was too generous with his feed. We got him back to his healthy 100lb weight.

92 XJ Sport - Resto Mod

I love the project. I have an affinity for white XJs with manual transmissions. Glad the moose didn't do more damage than it did. That could have been much worse.

    Possible control arms?

You should get under there and take a look. One possible suspect is the upper control arm mount on the passenger side of the axle. That piece of sheet metal is not at all up to the job. It could be mostly broken off from the axle, just holding on by a thread. You also haven't given your...

    96 XJ Fuel pump problems

Sounds like you have more than one issue. Regarding the seal, one gallon of fuel is not going to apply the same amount of pressure as a full tank of fuel. If your leak is at the big O-ring for the sending unit I recommend using a Chevy O-ring with the three tabs to keep it centered. The part...

    Better adhesive removing solvent?

That stuff really doesn't want to let go. I know from experience. I got Varmint #2 to 3D print me a Heep logo, so I really did need to clean the old stuff off since the new logo would not properly cover it. I can't recall what I used. Xylene and Naphtha are both mild solvents. Acetone and...

    Sudden sooty plugs

Well... I would still try to cap off the other 4. The idea would be to isolate the entire vacuum circuit for each of those. The leak may be anywhere in the system. Have you checked the vacuum ball tucked in the front bumper? That thing is pretty much out of the way and easy to forget about.

    Sudden sooty plugs

Without actually looking anything up (so don't take this as authoritative) I think there is one for the crankcase ventilation (one CCV connector goes to the airbox, the other to manifold vacuum), one for HVAC controls, one for the charcoal canister/evap system and the one you have identified for...

    Sudden sooty plugs

A couple thoughts... Have you run a compression check? Not something I would expect to suddenly see a change in, but nonetheless, a basic check which might shed light on the situation. How about vacuum readings? "Idles like a dragster" suggests poor vacuum, as does the fact it improves once...

Best Roof Tent Options for a Jeep Cherokee XJ?

What are you going to use as roof racks for the tent? Gutter mounts? Thule? Something else better than stock? That is the first concern I would have.

    Stupid u bolt question

Or get some made locally. I have a truck supply shop (Used to be Six States, I can't remember the new name) which can make U-bolts to order.

2001 Jeep Cherokee Classic New Build

That is far better than I could pull off for a Youtube video. I am glad you are planning to repair the rust in that XJ. That was a beautiful vehicle. (Still is if you overlook the rust.) I agree with your reasons for putting in the effort/cost. I look forward to the future instalments.

    Sudden sooty plugs

Can we surmise that it is not getting enough air? Sooty plugs would say the mixture is too rich. That could be a result of either too much fuel or not enough air. Having made a difference with the IAC (by 50% should be meaningful) that suggests there was a useful difference made in the air...

Choosing the Best Gear Lever Knob for Comfort and Style Recommendations?

Manual or automagic? If it is a manual you could find a woodworker with a lathe and turn something to suit you. Or look online at something like TwistedShifterz
