Trail Info - Corkscrew Gulch

This trail is the place to put info about the Corkscrew Gulch, a trail we will be running during ColoradoFest 2011.

Feel free to link your pix and comments about the trail. We will be putting up maps and satellite images as well. If anybody has waypoints, that would be nice as well for the geeks.

Corkscrew gulch leads up from highway 550 at the base of the large tailings pile in the large valley on highway 550 above the ironton loops.(that probably doesn't make any sense unless you're familiar with the area and the names).

From the top of corkscrew gulch one can continue on over to california pass and hurricane pass, or turn right and head downhill past the silverton ski area and on into silverton.

See that road running across the other side of the big valley? Well ya you can get to it, and where to goes into the tree line on the right there are some old shacks and an old lincon continental 4 door that someone drove up there

The road continuing downhill here leads back to highway 550, if your looking for a more difficult bit of trail this is a good way to go. Parts of it are comparable to black bear in difficulty:
