So Cal Fest

Calico is a great trip. We will likely wheel most of the day Saturday (some folks do a night run friday or a sunday morning run also). The main trails are doable with 31's and armor/rock sliders. Of course you'll struggle a bit, 33's and lockers and it becomes pretty easy.

Camping is available in the bunkhouse or in the campground. You can sleep in your heep, I usually do.

This is the bunkhouse location, and generally where we meet for the runs...

Lastly, AAT is Adopt A Trail. It's a volunteer program through the forest service. By participating you can help keep the trails open. The calico trip (SoCal Fest) is not really related to AAT. There will be several people there that can talk more about it. Check out the AAT forum here...

Thanks, how necessary are we talking on sliders and armor? I haven’t gotten there yet. Working on PO poo poos before upgrades...

All rocks can be avoided....but it takes skill and patience. I've seen both of the main trails run on 30's without any armor and without any damage...it takes some finesse though.

What’s the cost and sleeping arrangement at the bunk house?

$12 /night per person. See below for more info:

SoCal Fest is at Calico this time around; April 27 - 29, 2018

Lodging and Camping:

Bunkhouse:
The chapter has the bunkhouse reserved 4/27 and 4/28. It will accommodate 20 persons maximum. Reservations can be made through the chapter store for $12 per night per person. First come, first serve.

There are bathrooms inside (there are showers nearby in the regular campground), a small fridge, and it has heat and A/C. There's a BBQ grill & fire ring outside. Linens are NOT provided - bring your own sleeping bag or blankets and pillow.

There's room for 8-12 cars, and probably 2-3 trailers, and I think there are other spots to park nearby. Park outside chain link "yard area" only; no driving through the "yard", it annoys the rangers. NO RV parking near the building, per the rangers.

Campsites:
Campsites are available through the San Bernardino Parks website. The rate is $30 per site, per night.
For campsites it is recommended that we choose section "O", the lower ohv sites; ,not the upper quiet area to stay together. If trailers come in attached to a vehicle the combo is considered one vehicle. Contrary to what is posted on the County site they have a new rate sheet that says a 2nd vehicle is now allowed at no charge.

Cabins:
There are a limited number of cabins that may be available for $65/night. They sleep 4, have heat and A/C but there are no bathrooms. Linens are NOT provided - bring your own sleeping bag or blankets and pillow.
Cabin reservations may only be made by calling Calico Ghost Town directly at (800) 86-CALICO
