The "What I learned at Winterfest" Thread

I learned a whole different lesson at Winterfest this year.....

1.) you can drive 14 hours in a 36 hour period to see some of your best friends and it is still worth it.

2.) Attica cops can suck my balls (pulled over 2 times in <24 hours for the same thing, which was not breaking the law, they are just retarded...seriously!)

3.) one phone call can rock your brain for a 7 hour drive

4.) would I do it all again????? Yo bet your ass I would!

5.) The mobile Club R is the shiznit......

6.) There are truly some genuine people in the MWC, thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

Funny we never saw any cops the whole weekend.

What I learned at winterfest.

1 Leaving 8 hours behind schedule and driving through the night with 20/30mph head winds sucks!

2 Stock xjs wheel pretty good, but muffler don't like rocks.

3 Pats bus is the shit when its windier than f out!

4 There is one hell of a bon fire on Sat night when you have two nights of wood to burn.

5 I should have never quit coming to winterfest just because I didn't have a Jeep!

1. Green will get you scrapes and dents on a stock XJ somehow (don't know where I got them).

2. Napa in Attica sucks, go to Carquest. If you got the phone number to the manager or owner, they will open up for you if they are closed.

3. I need to be 3" and 31" tires and I would be happy.

4. Camping in a tent in winter sucks if you are not used to it.

Sure I will get more.

1) Cold weather and no doors wears your ass out.
2) Not staying at the campground makes it very hard to hang out and socialize (get drunk)
3) PAT's memory is WAAAAAY better than mine.
4) for the second year in a row I should have brought extra inventory.

Rev's run gets funner every year
Ken Stein is an animal
AJ likes getting stuck
A dodge ram can climb stuff in the quarry
Lisa can wheel
Drunk people on stilts sounds dangerously entertaining
Big Hank wheels a billygoat

no matter what, i still get asked if i have a tcase skid plate (which i dont)
Nick is a kickass trail leader
MJ's are good collectors of hail
i might as well just take off my tail lights before i wheel
johnny joints are tough

1. Bob Loose's Shit is custom.
2. Wedding cake after a year in the freezer can still be good.
3. If your Jeep isn't starting check the coil.
4. Deep fried turkey is amazing!
5. You need to watch your head when walking around Macgyver's trailer.

You guys are all a bunch of fools!
And I love every one of you, even who ever I reamed out at the camp fire.
I have truly met the best people in the world here.

campfire is awesome

people like my FORD hoodie

sideshow on stilts drunk :D

sleeping in a tent with out a heater during 30mph winds was not that bad, man up biotches

bling adds horse power

some people may say me and brad look somewhat similar......

fried turkey is the shiznet

my younger brother shouldn't walk...err barrel roll over a 5 foot pile of hot coals

when couches get tossed in the fire grab your beer and move it back several hundred feet, shit gets hot

peoples eyes light up when you say chocolate covered Bacon.

Fixed

MJ's are good collectors of hail
and raffle winnings, from the look of it... me, wade, nate, and colin got a lot of stuff!

You guys are all a bunch of fools!

my sincerest apologies. It will not happen again, I will keep my gas-in-water-bottles shenanigans at home. It is not as bad as it seems but I am not going to derail this thread about it, it is bad enough that I pissed people off by doing it at all.

I learned that:
I should show up with my jeep already built
trail runs do go smoother if everyone has a cb
angle grinder discs and welding masks will blow away in indiana
drunk people on stilts is the funniest shit I have ever seen
the tubes require a snorkel or intake relocation.
deep fried turkey is AWESOME
WF is totally worth 2000+ miles of driving
Being a dumbass gets you awards in the MWC (I should move)
John makes some really kick ass homebrew
tents don't really work in wind like that
Pat's bus and Mac's trailer were awesome for the potluck
I should have brought flipflops
no matter how much you scrub your boots they will still have mud in them. I should have just changed boots, but at least I remembered to bring the broom.

People will follow me on trails that you would have a hard time walking through.

Gene is one heck of a welder.

Flex has a good sense of humor.

Mud tires spinning in muddy sand will smoke.....allot.

Hot girls work at WeatherTech.

Free member camping was a great idea.

Jeeps not in our group will let us tech them......several times....before they tell us they are not in our group.

Camo nail polish on men has not caught on, yet.

No matter how many times you say not to, or how clear you are, people will still wear muddy shoes to dinner.

There is a covered garage at the quarry, and in a rain storm people will never see it until you park in front and stand inside.

Rev

"Hit it with your purse" not just for little old ladies...

My 2.8L can hang with your inline sixes

Jeeps look better with battle scars

Being on time = more fun

WF is still too short

Buy more raffle tickets

Indiana weather, your guess is as good as mine.

Quad drivers =

I'm always impressed with how dang friendly everyone is!

Thanks again for another great WF!

rev will try to claim everyone's mirrors

having a built rig makes it funner

molly likes to drive in circles

a-team jeep like to drive in circles and open lift gates at the same time

deep fried turkey was outstanding

timmy can put a hole in his rad and still make the 90 mile drive home.

if i give my brother the idea of walking over a 4ft tall pile of burning hot coal he will

when people see my brother slightly on fire the freak a little bit

i can party later than most that where at the fire

having a hangover and having to pack up and clean the camp site then drive home in a jeep with no floors while listening to the 33in mud terrains howling and cherrybomb humming SUCKS!

but most important STAYING FOR THE FIRE FOR THE 1ST TIMES RULES!

If you bring turkey, people will eat it.

Same goes for bottles of booze...sometimes.

Wheeler will do anything for a "pleeease"

I'm going to miss the yellow ZJ

Wind + Freezing = bed at 9:30

Rain and hail can make for great socializing times

Driving in the bowls is my new favorite!

MWC has the friendliest and most helpful people ever (not that that's a new thing!)

Goldschlager is delicious

Camper > tent

Can't wait for the next event

Doesn't matter what you drive, the MWC will still accept you (with a bit of teasing)

I had just as much fun on 245s and open/open that I did locked on 33s.

Chicks dig purple Jeeps :D

One can still have fun @ WF without driving their Heep to the event

I NEED to stay for a Campfire next year (3years in a row without staying)

Someone can win an Award without being on the forum

I'm still surprised the distances people will travel to wheel in an abandoned quarry.

Lastly, even if I dont get my Heep fixed by next WF I WILL still be there, GUARANTEED!

Explaining to a group on Green about "Hitting with Your Purse" Has created several different variations...

Leading a group consisting of several BOD members on a pre-run can be very intimidating until you realize they are having as much fun as you...

A U-haul trailer is better than a tent, and people recognize you just for that...

My Heep is able to withstand being tugged by a much better built Jeep...

My Bumpers are still in one piece, my welding skills must be better than I thought...

Orange isn't as bad as I imagined...

Staying up till 2:30am, sleeping 4 hours, waking up at 6:30 and driving back to La Crosse required a 30min nap somewhere around Madison WI.

Next year I have to bring Bec or people will think she doesn't exist...

Dad will hopefully return, in a year or two...
