Rainwater leak from cowl to carpet

Oh man, I need an answer. I poured some Henry Silicone where the air box is and it ran out of the car right around the bottom corner of the right fender and unto the street. I mean it ran out. No drip, just like a faucet. Someone tell me what happened. Here's the weird thing. It did not leak inside the passenger floor. I have a 1997 Jeep XJ Cherokee with A/C.
