Yet, another parking brake cable question

I know this topic has been discussed to death and I've searched countless pages of threads but.....I picked up two passenger side Explorer e-brake cables at the junkyard today and was thinking of using the inner cables from the Explorer (for the e-brake end) in the original cable housing and some how reattaching the end that goes to the equalizer bar....maybe drilling out the old cable from the end and brazing or silver soldering it to the new (Explorer) inner cable. Did you guys follow that? Do you think it will work, has anybody tried this before? I know I could loop it and cable clamp it but, I want it to look factory and I know M.O.R.E. sells a cable but, it's $120 and besides, where's the challenge. Open to all input, thanks! Oh, it's for my D44, if it makes a difference-------Hans
