Cylinder head question on an 02' Laredo
Tomorrow I will be looking at a 02' GC Laredo with a 4.0L (123K).
Can someone tell me what year the 0331 with the cracking issue was addressed by Jeep on the GC? I read somewhere the issue was mostly for the 00-01 years and they made some changes starting in 02' Would a GC built in 02' have the updated head? Thanks |

Re: Cylinder head question on an 02' Laredo
The head casting was changed on the GC late in the 02 model year. The only way to be sure is to look for the "TUPY" casting mark. If there is not too much oil sludge on the floor of the cylinder head, this casting mark will be visible by removing the oil fill cap on the valve cover and looking down, just in front of the cylinder #4 rocker arm.

Re: Cylinder head question on an 02' Laredo
Everything I have seen suggests it was changed in 2003.
