NWC Minimum Equipment and Participation Standards:

If you're looking to attend a Northwest Chapter trail run, please read the following and understand our expectations and requirements. The Northwest Chapter tries to promote a positive image while on the trail, and it's up to the attendees to make that happen.

Although, some runs may list additional requirements (e.g. lockers, minimum tire size, winch), the following list is the minimum equipment we ask your vehicle to have. Exceptions may be made at the trail leaders discretion.

  1. visibly charged fire extinguisher
  2. first aid kit
  3. adequate spare tire (or plug kit), jack, and lug wrench
  4. safety belts for both the driver and passenger(s)
  5. adequate tow points front and rear (tow hooks, d-rings, shackle/clevis)
  6. 20ft 10,000lb tow strap without any attached metal hooks
  7. secured battery (no bungee cords)
  8. CB Radio: Optional, but recommended

In addition to the minimum equipment list, please read through the following expectations for our runs.

  1. Trail Leader: Each event will have a designated trail leader who will be in charge of the scheduled run. The trail leader will have the final say, while always keeping safety in mind.
  2. Attendees: Every attendee of the run will ultimately be responsible for his or her own actions. If any safety concerns do arise, bring them to the trail leaders attention.
  3. As an attendee to a run, please inform the trail leader before leaving the group. The trail leader can then advise you on the best way, or send someone to accompany you if needed.
  4. As a driver, make sure you can see the person behind you at all times. This is important at intersections and obstacles where the group may become separated.
  5. As a driver, be aware of proper following distances while on the road and trail. Be sure to give the person in front of you room while attempting an obstacle or hill. Wait for them to clear the obstacle before attempting it.
  6. Attendees will follow the Tread Lightly principles while on the trail. If an attendee is found to not be treading lightly they will be informed of their wrong doing, and may ultimately be asked to the leave the run.
  7. Alcoholic beverages are not to be consumed while on the trail. There's a time and place for them, and the trail is not one of them.
  8. There's no need for guns at our events. If you bring one or carry one, it's probably best to keep it to yourself. Firing on the trail or at camp will not be tolerated.
If you have any questions about the minimum equipment list or expectations, please bring them up in the proper thread for the run you wish to attend.
