trany swap

Hello all just need to know if a tran out of a 99 xj will fit a 95 Grand cherokee. a friend of mine just got a 95 Grand chreokee less than a mo ago and the tranny went out today.she has a 99 xj with a bad motor got hot .both are 4.0 and autos.Didn't think there was a diff but wanted to know for sure .

No. your xj has a AW4. The zj has a 42re.

Ok that not going to make her happy.fig they were the same was going to swap them out for her .

What if I used every thing from the xj tran ,tranfer case, cross member,drive shafts

It will bolt up. In fact the early 93 ZJs came with the AW4. The difficulty will be the electrical and sapping over the transmission computer and it's wiring. You will need to use the 99 trans computer, which is seperate from the ECM. It's not as bad as it sounds if you're competent reading wiring diagrams, using a meter, and splicing wires.
