This is a great introduction to Jeep Touring. At 100 or so miles in length, this trail will really let you feel like you have left civilization far behind. The road is not overly challenging, suitable for anything with a low range transfer case. Enough people travel it that help won't be far away if you get into trouble but...it is good to be prepared and self reliant. Advanced planning is required to reserve one of the designated campsites along the route, they are usually taken months in advance. The maximum group size for each site is 10 people and 3 vehicles. Give the Canyonlands Reservation office a call to find out if there is anything available for the dates you are interested in, their phone # is (435) 259-4351. They won't reserve a site over the phone, you need to send a reservation form and $30 by mail or fax to just get the reservation. The day of, or the day before your trip you need to pick up your actual camping permit at the Island in the Sky Visitor Center before you can go claim your campsite.

I did not make a map because I could not beat what the Park Service has already come up with.

Shafer Switchbacks are the backdoor entrance to Canyonlands National Park

Musselman Arch, named for the rancher that did not discover it but did bring tourists. Normally the Park Service does not like their arches trampled on, due to its easy accessibility this one is ok.

The road drops down to near the level of the Green River at the end of Labyrinth Canyon
