Hi everyone

Pictures; http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.102578683104473.5749.100000570254985&l=fb39a7fd05&type=1

I registered on this site just now and this is my first post. I've been browsing this forum and I see how different our modifications here in Iceland are from yours.

This is my '97 XJ originally equipped with 242 engine, AW4, NP 231, 8,25" rear axle and D30 Reverse front axle.

My midifications:

Engine:
2,5" exhaust with cherry bomb vortex muffler. No catalyst converter. K&N cone filter, right now I'm making Cold air intake - pictures coming soon. Will be able to connect the air intake through the top of the firewall.

Transmission:
Added extra cooler for the transmission and will maybe install a thermometer to the trans.

Front axle:
4,56 differential and torsen truetrack locker. Adjustable KONI gas shocks. MOOG progressive springs which are made for ZJ.

Rear axle:
Ford 9" from early bronco, 28 spline, fitted with 4,57 diff. and torsen truetrack locker. Gabriel gas shocks. Thinking about making A-link spring suspension this autum.

T-case:
Installed Advance Adapters SYE kit.

Also:
Strong tie-in hooks front and rear (not sure if I'm using the right words).
9" Hella Luminator with 55w Xenon kit
Yellow Hella 55w foglights
Extra Reverse lights
VHF radio
GPS
Platform for 6 Jerry Cans instead of the rear seat
Bracket for 60 l. fuel barrel on the front end
AC pump out of Renault Megane used as air pump
10 l. aluminum air reservoir (the AC pump builds up 100 psi in the reservoir).

The car is only lifted between 4 and 5 inches. To make room for the tires it takes alot of cutting and welding. I hope you enjoy my photos.

Cool Jeep and some nice snow shots!

38"s on a stock D30?? Scary lol, but dang that is pretty freak'n sweet I must say. I saw that barrel strapped to the front and was like WTF is that winch?! You really buried those 38"s up front in that one pic. Keep it up!

Very cool, thanks for sharing! :)

my.02:

get yourself a 35 spline detroit and some chromoly shafts to go with for that 9" OR a 40spline spool

then build yourself a 35 spline 9" for the front with d60 outers.

I know guys blowing 35spline d60 shafts and r&P sets in the snow on 40"s... that 28 spline garbage aint gonna hold up. and that 30 is going to go nuclear quick.

In the snow I air down the tires to arround 4 psi right away, often the pressure is arround 2 psi and in very soft snow "powder" I go below 1 psi.

These axles hold up very well. Both front and rear axles are out of another 38" XJ who drove them arround 200.000 Miles and only broke 1 front differential If I remember right.
I have had 2 XJ before. Always used the D30 front, one had the D35 rear and the other had D44. I have driven these XJ on 38" over 50.000 km and less than half of it is on tarmac or good gravel roads. Most of the time I drive in the mountains and this green XJ is only used to drive over the glaciers and mountains in the winter. I have never broken a diff or axle in my XJ's.

Some more potos of my older XJ's:

I bought this one modified from the guy who built it:

Where, in the world, did those fender flares come from? Running in the snow is a different world from what we do here and I expect the D30 works a charm.

BTW, I had a very good 90 day TDY back in the early 70's at Keflavik. I was with the Super Constellations, EC-121 AEW&C aircraft.
