Gold Mountain 8:00 AM Signup

I’m leading the Gold Mountain run Saturday morning. We will be meeting on the street just outside the Serrano campground gates. I’ll be in a brown LWB MJ (see avatar).

I/we will be leaving at 8:00 AM sharp and heading for the trailhead. We will quickly air down there after our tires have warmed up a bit. There will be a lot of traffic on the trails this weekend and we definitely want to be ahead of them.

Bring a lunch, hydration, snacks and whatever it takes to get you through the afternoon.

Gold Mountain is rated as a Black Diamond; Most Difficult trail.
A minimum of factory grade tow points front and rear are required.

I recommend 31” tires minimum on a few inches of lift; sway bar disconnects; skids and rock rails highly recommended.

One locker or limited slips front and rear.

I’m not sure on communication yet but will update.

Please post up if you will be going or if you have any questions.

Personally I would put it at the easier end of Black Diamond. Most of the trail is Moderate, though it can be quite challenging. There is one ledge to get up (no bypass) that gives it its tougher rating.

There is a rock field to cross that can be difficult for some rigs/drivers but there is a bypass if one so chooses.

I did this trail in my heep. 31's, 4" lift open/open. Skinny pedal helped on the ledge.

Sign me up!

I've done it in a bone stock XJ but that was years ago. The ledge has gotten much tougher since then.

How long will this run be on average? Couple hours?
The Gold Mountain trail wii likely take us to noonish to 1:00 if we are not stuck behind a slow group. It could be earlier or later it impossible to say at this juncture.
If we are done soon enough we may head one to JB and watch the Store Bots. They can be quite the entertaining little creatures. Depending on the time we may run a tight and twisty little on our way back to camp. Getting back with time to clean up and get situated before dinner is kind of a priority for this run too.

Anyone have a spare seat?

Perfect! I'm thinking of driving up in the morning to join in on this run, but I'll have to head home in the afternoon which is why I asked. Thanks and hopefully I can make it up there ;)

I had a friend up in Holcomb campground running back from inside. He called me asking if I was up there because he had been waiting 3 hours to get past the group. My response I plead the 5th!

Well, the trail was a little bit tougher than I thought it was going to be. A little bit and then some. I went in expecting to take a strap but didn't think it was going to be that much fun.

Thanks to everybody that showed up and especially those of you that those of us in the little Jeeps got through. Mark, thanks again.

Dallas thanks for sponsoring, digging the swag!

Hat tip to Tom (Anak), thanks for chasing down tat circuit and getting me rolling in the morning.

I had a great time!

Thanks to Tim for stepping up and leading this run, and in a stockish MJ no less!

Markw and I continued on and ran John Bull and despite the Jambo JK's we didn't encounter much traffic.

Had a great time on this run and thanks again for leading Tim. Nice meeting everyone on Saturday , Josh, Mike, Art, Mark, and more I cant remember. Here are some pictures from the day.
