Good thinking. I have one that's not mounted yet. Haha

Just ordered a pair of the 8w version on ebay. Sequoia posted a link around here somewhere, $50 shipped for 2 radios, 2 chargers, etc.

Got them yesterday, took about a week.

I bought a set too. Turns out that they are the 5 watt and not the eight.

My pair say BF-F8+ on the radio itself. No model number markings on the box, or the documentation. Not sure if it's worth it to return yours.

Just a reminder, Baofangs can transmit on frequencies that require FCC licensing, transmitting on them unlicensed is breaking federal law and you could be fined:

https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/unauthorized-radio-operation

https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/personal-radio-services-prs-keeping-touch

https://www.fcc.gov/enforcement/orders/1846

If you do not have a ham license, do not transmit within the ham bands. If you have a Baofang and don't have a license, you can listen in, OR you can transmit using these frequencies below at the appropriate power output levels.

OR a person can get licensed now that they have reason to.

It really isn't that hard to do.

Varmint #1 did it at 11 years old.

Even better!
In my humble opinion being part of NAXJA comes with the responsibility of setting the right example to others in the off road community. If I'm gonna talk the talk...well, you know.

Since I'll be the leader for runs Fri and Sat I'll be sticking to your chart. Being completely ignorant on the topic I can't see any disadvantages. Any channel recommendations?
