2x72 belt grinder

I've been using this 2x72 belt grinder a lot lately and thought I'd post some pics of it. I originally made it for knife making, but it sure is handy for other metal fab as well. Made it mostly from scrap metal I had from other projects. The DC motor was salvaged from a free treadmill off of Craigslist. The motor speed controller and belt wheels were purchased (<$60 total). This belt grinder combined with a mounted porta-band saw makes metal fab pretty much a breeze.

If interested in making your own, Google "2x72 belt grinder" and you'll see tons of different versions.

And here's a video of it in action and some of the first knives I made with it....

I really like the DC motor. A definite upgrade.

Man, I'm going to look this up online. I might need it in the unforeseeable future.
