Governor Basin trail splits from the Yankeeboy Basin trail just a little way up from the Imogene Pass Split. Governor Basin is a pretty quite trail with some impressive views and old mine remnants.
Several old mines cannot be reached from Jeep but can be reached from foot(at something like 12,000 feet, so the air is quite thin). I was here one year was the Hard Rock 100 people where coming down by the Virginius mine and making me look paraplegic compared to the way they moved.
Typically snow can block the trail even into august, so sometimes it is impassable even until september.
