any codes in the TCM?
Sounds like the 1-2 shift valve is sticking in it's bore.
will it manual shift to first?

That's the other problem, the shifter handle won't move smoothly into the forward gears. It won't go down to 1st. Not sure what's up with that.......
Haven't checked for latent codes, but the CEL isn't on and it doesn't come on when it's happening.
Moved it into the garage this afternoon and it was doing it while cold right from first start up. The engine ran like it was mis-firing too..... Might could just be a bad TCU..... gonna drive it a bit more, but it's showing some similarities to what my own '97 was doing when it's TCU shit the bed.
