Oil Pan Removal

Need to replace the oil pan gasket and the rear main on my '98 5.2 L ZJ.

Unfortunately, the exhaust cross pipe is in the way of letting the pan drop out. All the tutorials I've read indicate you need to remove the y-pipe from both exhaust manifolds and drop the exhaust out of the way.

My concern is snapping a rusty exhaust manifold bolt (or 4) and being SOL. I am thinking about just cutting out enough of the cross pipe to drop the pan and then patching it with a new piece of pipe and some exhaust clamps.

Thoughts?

Follow up - I had to disconnect the Y-Pipe and move it out of the way, and then detach the sway bar links and the shocks on the front axle to droop it far enough to get the axle out of the way, and then the pan came out and went in really easy.
