Who: NWF this year is open to all members and vendors. We are putting this event on to give something back to the members of the NWC. Each member is allowed to bring one guest vehicle to the event, for which they will be responsible for.

When:
This years event will be taking place during June 22-24th. Traditionally, most will arrive on Thursday to set up camp. Official trail runs will happen Friday through Sunday. Saturday will be the day for the NWC BBQ, raffle, and activities.

Where: Headquarters for NWF will once again be at Long Meadow campground, located just a few miles up the Little Naches Road (1900rd).

Avanteone's Directions:
Quote:
[Starting from Little Naches Rd] go past the Kaner Flats campground about .5 mile. You'll see a left turn over a large concrete bridge going over the river. Take that left, go up approx. .25 miles, as the road turns to the left and goes from paved to gravel, there's a SHARP left turn into the camping area. Follow it in a couple hundred yards, the road will wind down a little ways and then open up into a large open field where the road splits and goes down both sides. We'll be camped in that general area, you won't be able to miss us.

Map Link: Here's a link to a printable map of the area. We'll mainly be using the bottom three portions of the West side.

Additional maps of the area can be purchased at the Naches Ranger District:

Amenities:
Our location is fairly primitive. There's basically an outhouse, and that's it. There's plenty of space available for trailers, campers, and tents. The nearest place for ice, water, gas, and food is Whistlin Jacks. It's about 5 miles from camp. It also wouldn't hurt to bring some firewood out too.

Pack it in, pack it out!

Fees: As of right now Long Meadow has a $5 per vehicle / per night campground fee. This fee is used to help maintain the campground, and the surrounding trails. You can fill out the pay slip at the "Iron Ranger" just as you enter Long Meadow.

There is a chance additional fees may be for this years event. Look for an additional thread for details.

Permits/Passes: No Northwest Forest Passes are required for camping or for trail use. Just be sure you have the proper registration, and insurance for your vehicle.

Vehicle Requirements: NWF is open to all vehicles. We'll have runs for all setups. Here's a list of items that all vehicles need to have. We will be checking for these items upon check-in.

  1. visibly charged fire extinguisher
  2. first aid kit
  3. adequate spare tire (or plug kit), jack, and lug wrench
  4. safety belts for both the driver and passenger(s)
  5. adequate tow points front and rear (tow hooks, d-rings, shackle/clevis)
  6. 20ft 10,000lb tow strap without any attached metal hooks
  7. secured battery (no bungee cords)
  8. CB Radio: Optional, but recommended
Legalities: It's highly recommended your vehicle be street legal as possible (doors, flaps, flares) when commuting to and from the trails. A few miles of Forest Service roads or highway will need to be traveled on to reach many of the trails. If your vehicle is not street legal, plan to trailer to the trail head.

Expectations: As this is an official NWC event and :NAXJA: event, please review our equipment and participation standards. We strive to create a positive image for our sport.

i believe last year if you towed your jeep you only had to pay a $5 fee for the tow rig and not the jeep? it may have changed since

This is what Murk told me last year as well.

Also note that some of the roads in the area are closed, so if you didn't go last year, look into it as you are making plans.

is this an acceptable battery mount?
