Door locks only work with ignition in the accessory position

No. They should work with the key off. It's fed from the dash kick panel fusebox I think. I'd start looking for sketchy wires...

Congrats! Your locks still work sometimes

someone wired them into an ignition hot line instead of the always positive. id follow the wire in the kickpanel.
good new is. you know its in the dash. Bad news is. Someone been in there before you....
hahaha and they sound dumb to do that...

ok, I am going to check that

Keep in mind that the 2000 has a door lock safety — key in ignition in off position the doors won’t lock

Keys out of ignition and all should work

By design if the key is in the ignition then the Ignition must be on to lock the door — I’m pretty sure unlock always works
