(CA) Rubicon [fotr] Eldorado National Forest OHV Plan

Note to all Rubicon users:

The Eldorado National Forest is developing applications for the OHV
grant money. They're looking for comments and suggestions. They
plan to focus these upcoming funds on Law Enforcement (OHV and
winter snow use). By the way, if you read the new proposed OHV
Commission policies (and current trend of grant distribution), law
enforcement and conservation is where most of the money is going
anyway.

The Forest is also looking for comments about the future of the OHV
program (in general) on the forest (which includes the Rubicon of
course).

Now here's what we need to do:
1.. Get FOTR folks to a couple open houses put on by the Forest:
Wed. April 30th, 5 to 7pm in Jackson, CA (Amador Senior Center, 229
New York Ranch Rd). (this is the same night as our Rubicon master
Plan workshop in Placerville).
and:
Thurs. May 1, 7-9pm, Large Conf. room, Eldorado national forest HQ,
100 Forni Rd., Placerville.

SO LET US KNOW IF YOU CAN MAKE ONE OF THESE (so I know we're covered).

2. Send your letters/comments by MAY 5th to:
Lester Lubetkin
Recreation Officer, Eldorado National Forest
100 Forni Road
Placerville, CA 95667

3. Bullet Points: I'd like a couple folks who have time to
volunteer to help us out with some key bullet points that we should
make both at the meetings and in our letters. Then we can post them
somewhere where we can all use them (with some personalized editing).

Bullet points for the meeting might be something like:
a. FOTR represents continued responsible multiple use of the Rubicon;
b. FOTR puts shovels behind our words and maintains the trail in a
cooperative spirit with government and landowners;
c. FOTR does not want to see any closures or restrictions to the
trail access, but encourages adequate signing, sanitation and law
enforcement. blah blah.... :0

Get out your calendars. Put some of these meeting and activities on
your list. :)
thanks, Del
