radio question

I recently bought a 00 xj with a Sony X/Plode cd player and while driving it seems like it faded in and out. It doesn't loose power but if fades and some times gets static.Today I bought a Clarion cd player and installed it today and it still has the same issues. If anyone has had this problem or has any ideas to try please inform me cause it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Did you replace the wiring harness when you put the new cd player in?

no I just cut and spliced the one from the old adapter harness

are you running an aftermarket harness or did you splice right into the factory wires?

i was having problems with my cd player not playing sound, i went to wal-mart got a new harness for $5 and it solved all my problems

there was an adapter harness in there but maybe I'll try that in the A.M. and see how it turns out.
