Question on Coney Flats/Middle St. Vrain

It has been probably 15 years since I went up the Middle St. Vrain and then the Coney Flats trail. We used to have to do a water crossing at the lake. I was looking at GoogleMaps and it shows a bunch of cabins now and no water crossing. Who has been over this in the last few years?

Even in these pix I see what seem to be cabins across the lake to the west. I just never remember seeing them there. I was hoping to find some camping around the lake for several rigs. Are there any sites available that you know of? The googlemaps images look like the lake was a lot lower and there was no water across the road.
