Rear tire carrier

Just wondering... I know Jeep made 2 variations of a swing out tire carrier for the 88-92 country edition (one bolted to the body, the other to the bumper). Does anyone know if either would work with a '99? If so, do you know where I could find one. I know they're pretty sought after but I'm hoping someone can help me out.

Re: Rear tire carrier

Both can be adapted and modified to fit a the newer body style. Just so you know, neither variation should carry a tire larger than 31". The tire swings are usually rusty and the bearings will be worn out and floppy. If you do find one in the junkyard, be sure to get all the extra brackets and hardware that tie the tire swing and bumper to the uni-body "frame".

Re: Rear tire carrier

I found one at the J/Y. It's the kind that bolts to the bumper only.

You probably could adapt it, but it just wouldn't be worth it in my opinion.

I got this for my '98.... Worth every penny.
