My Napier Precision Products flare install. 01 xj

Hey guys. I got these flares from Doug as a raffle donation for Sierrafest. Thanks Doug!!!

My jeep is an 01, with 33x10.50 tires and only 3.5 inches of lift.

I also have a rigidco front bumper, and a c4x4 rear bumper. This bumper has steel quarter panel guards, so I opted for the cut and fold flares.

I started up front. My fenders were already trimmed a little, and my stock flares were beat, broken and cracked. Once I ripped all the flares off, I cut the bottom most lip off the fender.

I left the factory 3 bolt holes at the top, you'll need one for the bracket to go back.

Here you can see how much was cut, and where the stock bracket was bolted back.

Next I simply marked the holes where it fit best, installed the edge trim, and bolted it on.
The screws are very forgiving and allow for a lot of adjustment.

Next, the back. This sucked. No way around it.

I used the cut and fold method. You really, really have to open up the front of the wheel wells.

First, the small lip gets cut off. Any higher, and the wheel wells will split open.

Next, I pie cut to the top lip.

Heres a shot of how deep you have to cut here.
Note the left side.

Be sure to hit your fingers while hammering.

The fender gets hammered up and shut. Creative hammering and metal bending is needed to seal the gap made by the cuts near the door.

Hammered shut and sealed with rubber sealant.

The back part of my flares had to be trimmed to fit over my quarter guards.

Very nice! I have the same color 2000 with Napier flares, I love them! I put mine on its side, resting the weight of the whole XJ on the flares this weekend and they didn't even budge. Well, I don't think it was all of the weight, but I was definitely resting my Jeep on the flares. (I was going up a really slick trail in the middle of a thunderstorm at night, the trail is ridiculously eroded and there's a "groove" in the trail that swallowed my XJ) - it was Forest Lake for any of the locals.

Wow this is weird.

I had emailed Napier about their hood vents and as an afterthought asked about their flares.

I have an '01 expedition build going and would like to keep it as low as possible and fit 33x10.50 tires.

I thought "Man, I need to search NAXJA and see if anyone has pics of a 3" 3.5" lift with flares and 33x10.50 tires..."

It looks great!!! Can't wait to get all this done to mine!

those look way better than stupid bushwacker cutouts. Nice!

Looks good man. I'd really like to put those flares on too, but I think I've already trimmed past where they would bolt on in the front. Plus I need all the space I can get for flexing 35s on a low lift.

Looks good! I've been considering this since I always seem to pop off a flare when I go wheeling. Can the fender liners be reused with these, or do they get tossed?

toss the fender liners and stick a pool noodle in front of the door

i must admit those look better than the bushwackers. cleaner lines IMO. nice jeep.

Thanks guys.

You don't have to have the middle bolt holes on the front fenders. Its only used for the brace and you could remount that.

And yes, with creative trimming you could fit the liners. I don't use any.

I've always liked the looks of the 33x10.5 on the cherokees... That's what I'm running too! My napier flares should be here this week I hope :)
