help removing auto trans shifter linkage

I am pulling a 4wd auto from a 96 and need to know what to do about disconnecting the shifter linkage for the transmission. I already have the center console removed to get the 4wd shifter linkage out and disconnected it from the t-case.

disconnect it at the transmission end. as I recall, 2 12mm bolts to get the bracket off, and gently pry the natural nylon clip off the shift arm. You'll need to pull the carpet up and the foam underlayment (or cut through them if you don't care about the carpet) to get the cable pulled through the firewall.

The second cable from the shifter goes to the steering or brake interlock.
