It's that time of year again... Time to start planning our 5th annual Thanksgiving run at TSF !

What: Camping, wheelin, and all around good times !

Where: Tilimook State Forest (Browns Camp area)

When: November 26th thru the 28th.

Who: Everyone is invited ! Just come prepared and act responsibly !

Camping: Assuming Horse Camp is open we will shoot for camping there. if not Lyda will be the back-up plan. Horse camp has only fire pits and outhouses. Lyda has nothing !

As always, please come prepared. there may be snow, and i assume it will be quite cold. It is always wet this time of year, so pack accordingly. Tarps, rain gear, recovery gear, first aid, etc... As i said above there are no creature comforts at Horse Camp or Lyda ! bring yur own water. nearest bathroom to Lyda is 5 minutes to horsecamp (which also has no running water). front and rear tow points highly recommended if you want to be rescued from anything. LOTS OF FIREWOOD is a great idea !

The last 2 years I left right after dinner thursday night and hopefully will do the same this year to reserve a spot.

I will post up meeting times for folks that aren't camping as we get closer, but typically we pull out around 930-10am to hit the trails.

I'm posting this early so folks can plan ahead. The last few years we have had HUGE turn outs for this. Its a great time ! Don't let the turkey and stuffing sidetrack you... you can always visit granny at Christmas. :laugh3:

I'm in for sure. My goal is to have my XJ wheelable (not stock) and rolling on new shoes by Thanksgiving. I'm not going to miss this.

Wonder if I can get my next project finished (and started) by Thanksgiving. See how long it takes me to actually get a job...

This is definitely one of the best runs of the year.

Where we are camping will not require an ATV permit. so worse case You/we could drive to the gas station first thing Friday morning and buy a permit:attom:

I know, I just don't want to drive to the gas station in the morning, there has got to be an easier way.

Maybe bribe one of the Oregon guys to pick one up beforehand. Unfortunately, they're only available in Oregon. I think all they would need is name, VIN#, address, year, make, and model.

Second option would be contacting the Oregon Department of Foresty, and seeing if there's a way to order online, I doubt it though.

Here's a link that list the businesses that sell them.

I sent them an Email already, If I can't grab one ahead of time I'll just go to the Shell in the morning.

Hi Joe,

You can purchase ATV Permits over the phone through the Oregon Parks Information Center at 1-800-551-6949. Or you can purchase them through local vendors here in Oregon. Here is a link to our State ATV website: www.oregonohv.org . On the left side, click on "Permit Agents" and choose your location. Also, an ATV/OHV operating permit that is issued in another state shall be honored in the State of Oregon if the issusing state also honors an Oregon ATV operating permit. The ATV must have a resident state ATV/OHV operating permit or a State of Oregon ATV operating permit to operate the ATV on designated ATV areas. Listed below is a list of those states:

Alaska
California
Colorado
Idaho
Illinois
Indiana
Missouri
Montana
North Dakota
Pennsylvania
South Carolina
Utah
Vermont
Washington
Wisconsin

If you have any other questions please email or call us at 1-877-7SAFELY. Thank you and happy riding!
